The Director of Distribution Center Engineering is responsible to identify innovating cost reduction and transformational opportunities for the distribution centers, and evaluate key performance indicators to monitor and research the health of the operations. They will use findings to initiate process improvements and automation that support the business goals and objectives and will operate as a subject matter expert on fulfillment best practices. Primary Job Functions
This section describes the primary /essential responsibilities that this job performs.
Responsible for the overall execution of all phases of the project life cycle including design, engineering, modeling supply chain solutions, as well as planning, implementation and tracking of projects. Ensure key metrics are attained for each project: quality, on-time start up completion dates, financial performance, along with other key operational metrics.
Identify automation solutions and preparation of business cases including process changes, cost savings, investment and operating costs to support the development of automation solutions strategy.
Develop strategic operating procedures that support network-wide business objectives in wholesale and retail distribution and evaluate new or improved operating methods, technology, equipment, facility design and layout.
Lead the development of viable solutions to automate pick, pack and ship processes within the distribution centers using robotics, artificial intelligence and neural networks, and provide guidance to teams.
Lead the initiatives for continuous improvement and standardization of the distribution automation solution, in a context of change focused on operating expense reduction and operational efficiency.
Research, cost justify, specificy and negotiate the purchase of distribution center equipment and machinery
Design, order, schedule, balance and supervise the installation and relocation of distribution center equipment.
Develop, learn and train others in the operation of all types of distribution center equipment and processes.
Monitor and oversee compliance with all new and existing equipment and enforce all safety procedures, including Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO). Shut down any equipment that may pose a safety risk.
Continually update distribution center teams on new technologies, new equipment and new automation processes that improve distribution center operations.
Develop and improve Standard Operating Procedures related to all distribution center equipment. Contribute ideas for improvements in all areas using appropriate means of communication.
Work with facilities and plant engineering on facility layouts.
Make employment decisions and/or recommendations on hiring, improvement plans, transfers, promotions, corrective actions, terminations, pay adjustments, etc.
Coordinate and manage the work of employees by directing members of the team to meet the area's goals. Audit regularly to ensure standard operating procedures are being adhered to.
Manage employee performance and assist employees in making improvements to their performance through coaching, mentoring and administering performance reviews. Recommend, plan and/or implement employee training and skill development activities.
Audit, maintain and ensure employee time-keeping and absentee records are accurate.
Communicate company and departmental issues and goals and facilitate employee growth and development through weekly team meetings, regular individual employee meetings, coaching, training and company-offered learning opportunities.
Manage resources to optimize equipment, facilities, employees, methods and materials.
Demonstrate the Company's Core and Growth Values in the performance of all job functions.

Job Requirements
Job Qualifications
Bachelor degree in Industrial Technology or related Engineering field, or equivalent work experience, required.
10 years' experience in distribution center environment, preferably in a variety of settings including bulk storage, high density storage, automation solutions, and material handling
Supervisory experience required.
Licenses or Certifications:
Powered Industrial Vehicle (PIV) License, or ability to obtain PIV License
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proficiency with AutoCAD or Solidworks, desired
Project management knowledge and execution
Strong knowledge of distribution and fulfillment design, material handling equipment and storage
Experience with warehouse management systems, warehouse control systems, and warehouse execution systems
Broad technical view and understanding of distribution center process design, including statistical methods that will enhance or improve the speed, quality and cost effectiveness of distribution processes
